Baseball Boy

Porter is doing so well with Tball. Last night at his game his coach was laughing and said "man we should bump that kid up a league or two, look at him leading off." He was at bat three times and had two good, and one great hits. He still has a hard time staying focused and paying attention for the whole game. Just like in the rest of his life he is a little socialite. Tonight while riding in the car he said "Daddy can we play situational baseball?" Burk proceeded to give him different scenarios and then he would say what the next play should be. It was kind of cool. I didn't know which I should be more impressed with his baseball knowledge or his use of the word "situational". Just another proud baseball mom, moment.

T Ball

Tball started tonight. Porter has been so excited, he didn't think this day would ever come. Yesterday we got him a belt and some little baseball pants. He looks like a little professional.
Just like with soccer he had to call everyone and make sure everyone he knew was coming to the game. He did have a rather large cheering section. All his grandparents, plus Grampa Great and Ardis, Tata and Cody and Booge and the boys. Along with Burk and I of course.
I think Burk and I must have been excited as well. We may have gotten a little carried away. But I can't believe how much fun it is to have your kids in sports. I think Burk has been waiting for this day for four and a half years.

At this age they don't really have an actual game. They just kind of give them the basics. They hit through the batting order 3 times. The fielders kind of stand in clumps and they don't really have any outs. A time or two kids would run from center field or second base to pick up the ball barely in front of the tee. Not surprisingly, Porter was all too happy to use this as another social hour. I witnessed him taking off his helmet on second base to show of his new mohawk to the kid on the other team who was "playing" second.

He hit pretty well. He had kind of a hard time his second at bat. The helmet was so big it was down over his eyes and he couldn't see anything. He was so concerned about having his batting glove but forgot to use it. He made sure to tell me the fingers had to stick out the top of the pocket like the catcher for the Lancers.
He just had to have number nine like Sammy Sosa. He wears it well, and I am sure he would make Sammy proud. I couldn't be more proud of him.

Oompa Loompa Doopity Doo!!

This was the very best part of my trip to Walmart Hell today.

Jump Jump Jump!!

This kid is a jumpin machine.

Rebb loves Johnny Jump Up. He will jump forever and ever. He would live in this if we let him. Our biggest problem with Johnny is that he clips onto door frames and there are not many in our house so we have to clip him in the pantry. But hey he likes it. He also frequently finds himself in the restroom where he entertains himself nicely while Burk does his business. :) This particular time he was jumping he was so tired he jumped himself to sleep. He would jump and then slowly the jumping would stop and he would be asleep he would only sleep for a minute then he would wake up jump for a minute or two and then fade away again. It was so funny and cute.
