Hot Soccer

Porter had some soccer games in October that were so hot we got sunburns.
I was loving the warmth.
Porter did really awesome each week,
and was learning more and more about passing and actual strategy.

Here he is giving Pops high five after scoring a goal.

         This is his friend Max.
They do really well together and keep each other aggressive.

4 wheelin'

Burk and I got out Porter's old 4 wheeler and thought we would let Rebb take it for a spin. He loved it so much. He got the gas down easy but like Porter he had a little harder time getting the concept of steering. Luckily for us Rebb's first time on the 4 wheeler was out back. Burk and I had a good laugh at Rebb and remembering Porter's first ride as well. Porter had actually received this for Christmas when he was one from uncle Jake and he drove it into our Christmas tree and knocked it over. I love having boys.

Breakfast at Otis

One week after soccer we went to "Otis" for breakfast. Burk and I came away a little cranky because we had a horrible 3 hour experience but Rebb could not have been happier. A balloon and a full belly and he is set. This kid is so cute I can hardly stand it.

Go Blue Lizards!!

Soccer this year has been very different. While I am so proud of Porter because he is sooooooo much better than last year, I am sad to report there are no AFV possible winning videos of jumping jacks. He was like a different kid as soon as he got on the field. Much more aggressive and into the game. There was no number 9 so he chose 6. It was the highest number and "is upside down 9 like Sammy". They have only 4 kids this year and one of them never comes so all three kids usually play the whole game. They get really tired but they play their little hearts out. Go Blue Lizards, I know you can take the red/yellow/green/and pink Dragons. :)

sometime in Sept.

                                                                       I love these men.
This is just a random picture but it is cute of all three of my babies so I wanted to post it.

Bees Game

On Labor Day weekend we went to the Bees Game. It was a great day. The weather was warm but we got seats that were in the shade shortly after the first inning. It just happened that we were there on Humane Society Day. Rebb could not have been happier. He did not want to be down in our seats he wanted to to stay up where the dogs were and watch them all day. He kept sitting on the ground, pointing at them and he would say "dog, dog, dog" over and over and over again.
We ran into Bumble and Porter was excited to get his picture taken with him. We tried to put Rebb in this picture but he was beyond terrified. He hates bumble. The whole game he would watch for him and if he got anywhere near us Rebb would start shaking and cling to who ever had him.
You should notice two things about this picture. First, how blonde Rebb's hair is. And second, Papa Joe's shirt. There were two guys a few rows up and over with this very same shirt. Their friends sent one of them down to get a photo with Papa. They thought it was so funny that three men ended up there in the same section with the same shirt. As it turns out they bought them at the same place in Hawaii.
Later in the game, Boggy, the little boys and I ventured over to the train. Because you can't go to the ball game without riding the train.?? I took this pic while we were waiting our turn. Porter is such a good older brother. Rebb wants to be just like him. Porter thought he was so cool in his Bees jersey. He was pretty cute.

It was a really fun day and we made some good memories. I hope it was just one in a million days that we will spend at the ballpark together.

Back from Hiatus.................

I have not joined facebook or abandoned my blog for farmville like you Aholes I have just been busy. But I am back.

Christmas Stamp Camp

This is just three examples of the ten awesome projects that we will be making at my sister-in-law, Callies stamp camp. The "camp" is at Callie's new home in West Layton on November 20 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. You get to eat a yummy lunch, visit with friends, and make ten fun Christmas cards/projects. She does all the preparation and provides all materials except basic adhesive. The cost of the camp is $18.00 and you must register by November 10. Everyone loves homemade Christmas cards so much more than store bought ones. Come check it out, you can go with me or meet me there. Bring your Mothers, sisters and friends. They won't want to miss this.

Please Come!!

I am having a little open house party at my house on Thursday Sept 30 from 7:00 to 8:30 for zipped with accessories. They are soooo fun. If you don't know what that is, check out her website zippedwithaccessories.com. She makes bracelets, rings, hair clips and headbands in lots of designs and colors. Unfortunately she said she doesn't do invitations because everyone just invites people on face book. As we all know I am "fighting the facebook" and I am not on there. Please come! Bring your friends, your Moms, your sisters and daughters. EVERYONE is invited. Even if you don't want to buy any come have a treat or two and visit with friends so I don't feel like a huge looser when no one shows. I seriously have had TONZ of compliments on my bracelet so come check it out.

Hogle Zoo

A few weekends ago Bogga Bwenna came down and my family had a little "staycation". It was a really great weekend. Friday we went to the drive in. It was pretty fun. The boys thought it was fun to watch a big movie screen outside and be able to make little beds in the back of the truck. Saturday morning we woke up early and went to Hogle Zoo. It was really fun but a looonnnggg day.  We loved seeing the monkeys. Porters favorite attraction was the gorillas. Outside we saw a Mommy, Daddy, and baby gorilla. There is also a new baby elephant. Her name is Zuri. The day we were there, they were actually having her first birthday party. We chose not to participate. I am super yucked out about eating at the zoo. The giraffes were very pretty even though their tongues are super long and gross. In the cat house we actually saw a few of the animals moving around. One of the tigers was pacing back and forth right next to the glass. Rebb loved him. Burk and I both missed Shasta. And we were really disappointed that there were NO bears. The polar bears have been moved for a year or so because they are building a new Arctic Encounter. It was way hot and most of us got a little sunburn. My happy happy Rebb Man was so good. He is so content to be outside. I swear we could walk around for days and he would never make a peep. Especially when there is lots going on for him to watch. On the way home we went to Chuck a rama to eat dinner. Rebb and Jace ate all of our money's worth. Diddy had a slurpee he liked so much he waited until none of us were watching and swiped one from the table next to us. It was a really fun day. On Sunday we went to the park and had a picnic. We were having so much fun we didn't even notice we were there for six hours. We played tennis and set up a croquet course. We took washers and had a tournament and played soccer, baseball and sat around eating fruit and other picnic goodies. It was a really great weekend and I loved spending time with my awesome family. We had originally wanted to go on some sort of small vacation but it ended up that the  boys had just as much fun doing things around here. And I was really happy to be able to sleep in my own bed, at my own house without any hotel fees. Thanks again all, it was fun to spend time with you, and we made lots of memories I will cherish forever. Love You Guys.

UnRuLY!!!!

This is what I mean when I say Rebb has unruly hair.
Several times a day he will find himself in a situation just like this....................
Keep in mind this is freshly washed/brushed hair.
And it is not only morning hair, or after naptime.
If he sits in a car seat, in a high chair, is out in the wind, or scratches his head the result is always the same. This poor kid, I guess it is fitting that he loves birds because he has that funny little baby bird hair. It has been like that from day one. Rebb we love you and we love your funny hair.

Gross!!

As any self respecting person who calls themselves a Benton does, I keep a cup of bacon greese in my fridge for emergencies.

Evidently Porter was unaware of this, and thought it looked like cream or something good. YUCK!! I found it pretty funny. He did not. "Back off the fig newton's boy, you aren't going to need any!"

Because kindergarten wasn't enough.............................................................

I guess kindergarten wasn't enough of a reminder that Porter is growing up. There were two firsts for Porter in one day. Kindergarten began and that night he lost his first tooth. He pulled it out by himself. I never dreamed he would do it because he wouldn't let Burk or I near it. His two bottom front teeth were loose and his adult ones were already peeking through. So he finally pulled one and then a few days later pulled the second. The tooth fairy visited twice and he thought that was cool, but could not understand why she would leave the tooth and the money. Maybe she has had a lot on her plate!!! :)

Kindergarten Already!!!!

Porter started kindergarten and loves it so much. It was a little hard on me I will admit. He was so excited he had his outfit all picked out the night before. He informed me he needed to be dressed all in baseball. He wore a new baseball shirt, new shorts, new socks and his "Benny shoes"  because they are guaranteed to make kids run faster and jump higher.  He was also sporting a super cool Transformers backpack. When we got there he was not nervous at all. He went right in and started making friends, true Porter style.  He has been waiting for this day for a long time. When we left, the daycare bus was there so he got to see where he gets on the bus. He is very excited about the bus. I was nervous, I was choking back tears the whole time. He is already a little smarty pants and has been practicing math with Burk and writes Sammy Sosa letters frequently so he is  pretty well underway with the kindergarten curiculum.  I was a little worried that he would get bored with what they were learning and start to reek havoc in the classroom. But we are a while in and haven't had a problem yet. (knock on wood) I can't believe this has come so fast. My baby has grown up. He makes me proud everyday though, and even though I sometimes miss him being a baby I am looking forward to this next chapter of his life. I know it will  get even better and there are years of memories and proud moments to come. I love you big school boy.

6 stitches, 0 tears...........................................

On Porter's first day back to day care from Park City he decided to do some dare devil stunts and jump off a dinosaur, and cut his head open. When they called me I was imagining the scene: blood spewing from his head, Porter in hysterics, Burk and I both with the help of 5 nurses holding him down while the doctor checked his head to even see if it needed to be stitched. I could not have been more wrong. I actually met Burk and the boys at the doctors office and Porter was not even crying. He had the ipod and was playing angry birds, patiently waiting his turn. When we went in Dr. Carl took one look at it and said no way could it be glued, it was going to have to be stitched. Porter held my hand and squeezed when it hurt but was determined not to cry. Dr Carl told him he was doing so good he had stitched adults who were bigger babies. Porter took pride in that, telling everyone he saw for 10 days "six stitches, zero tears and there are adults who can't do that". The next day the dinosaur became "extinct" at the day care. Porter's favorite teacher Mrs. Judy, was the one who was with him when the accident happened. She was so worried we would be upset. But in truth we were so thankful she was there to keep him calm until Burk could get there. I guess the life of boys and their many accidents has begun.

Do people really pay to use Hot Saunnas?

Upon arriving home from Park City we were greeted with this. This picture was actually taken around 11 p.m. after at least an hour of every single window in the house being open and literally six oscillating fans and the ceiling fans had been running. When we got home the temp was 89. Keep in mind the temperature gauge is downstairs and our bedrooms are upstairs.
This is what we found when we took the front off the furnace. Yep, you guessed it. The white stuff is ice. Pure, solid ice. I seriously don't know how ANYTHING was frozen in our home that day.
Pops said we would have to thaw it out and then it would run and cool us down again. He gave us a good idea about blow drying it. Check out my straight out of the 80's blow dryer.

She may be old, but she did the trick. I really thought that poor blow dryer would blow up on us. I guess if she made it through all the years of helping me sport the Utah Claw the ice was nothing.
Apparently this is what a "healthy" furnace looks like. So I urge you all, please, please, clean your filters every once in a while. The filter actually said once a month but I find that excessive.
And if you go out of town for 4 days turn up the temp a few degrees. It was HOT lesson, but we learned it. Another fun thing about being a home owner. :)

Another pictureless post. BOOOOOO!!!

I know post without pics are lame but I want this memory to make it into our blog book.

The week of 24th of July Burk and I and the boys got to go stay in Park City in Grandpa Great's timeshare with papa and Boggy for a few nights. It is in Sweetwater lift lodge which is right at the mountain resort so we always walk up to the alpine slide and the chocolate factory (like every night). We spent a lot of time at the park playing with a giant frisbee disk. That thing was a riot. Porter talked Burk into mini golf on the dumbest course ever and the boys went on the coaster a few times. There was no alpine sliding as we have banned it since the "incident" last year. We spent lots of time in the pool, and Rebb had his first swimming experience. He was pretty cute with his fat round belly poking out over his swim trunks. Porter, Burk and Papa went fishing Wed. morning and Porter caught the first 8 fish. He had been itching to use his new pole Papa bought him for his birthday along with the super cool spiderman tackle box. It was such a chill couple of days and I enjoyed myself so much. I took the camera but didn't even get it out. (oopsy). I loved every second of down time with this great fam. I feel so lucky to have all of them. :)

Swim Day

Around Porter's birthday in June he started asking to go swimming and go on the water slides at Cherry Hills. Since Burk's company was closed on Friday the 23rd in honor of Pioneer day we thought it would be the perfect day. I took off work and Rebb went to daycare. We went early and got there just as it opened at 10:30 we got all sunscreened up and started the journey in Cardiac Canyon. Porter loved it. we went down a few times and then decided to try out pirates cove. In Pirates cove they have a baby slide which Burk went down and tore he crap out out of his hand on some lava rock. From there we hit the Lazy River. This was by far my favorite. After a while in Lazy River we decided to try the dragon slides (the original slides) and then back to Lazy River. We grabbed a quick bite of lunch and then back again to Lazy River. Every thing we went on Porter said was his favorite. He loved it all. I loved it too and would recommend a day like this to any family. (We got $10 off coupons at Wendy's) Although I have to admit I am not sure it was Cherry Hills I loved as much as spending a day with two of my boys. It was really nice to give Porter a day without Rebb, that was all about Porter. Aside from Burk and I both being crispie, (this is literally my first time ever in life to peel) and Burk being injured in the kiddie pool it was one of my best days. I will remember it forever. I hope the boys will too.

Splash Pad!

Burk recently heard of a new splash pad in the middle of Riverdale City Park so we went there last weekend to check things out. It was such a blast. It is awesome because it is in the middle of a group of big trees. We took some blankets and a cooler of drinks and Burk, Chelsy, Booge and I sat in the shade and let the boys play in the water. Next time we will take some grapes and picnic food but it worked out o.k. You have to love FREE fun. Here is a random picture of the whole thing. It is probably 40 feet wide and 50 feet long. (If you know anything about me and measurements, you know that could be severely off) Big enough for the kids to run around but not so big that you can't easily keep track of your kidos.

Rebb, my little fish loved it. He always loves the bath and this was combined with his other great love the outdoors. He gets a little frustrated because he can't quite keep up with the big boys but he will get there soon enough.

Here is my nephew Jace with one of the squirt guns. He didn't like the water as much. He liked the idea of it and would run over there but as soon as the water squirted he would run back to us.
Here are Porter and Diddy filling up the water guns and chillin in the sun. I don't know exactly what Porter is doing with his face. He is really into weapons right now so I am sure he was "really sticking it to a bad guy" or something.

Man I love this kid, snot nose and all. he is so freaking sweet.

A better picture of Porter

It was such a great time. We will be going back for sure. Probably more than once this summer. We were so happy to have Boooge and his family go with us. We always have a good time with them and Porter and Dax are close enough in age they have a blast. I can't wait for Rebb to get big enough to be good pals with Jacer. (actually I can wait, I wish he would not grow so fast)
Anyway we give this two thumbs up. You should check it out. Call us if you need directions, or want company. Happy Splashing!!
